    Bason Botanical Gardens
Established in 1996, the Bason Botanical Gardens was created when the late Stanley Bason donated his farm for a garden. Today, the garden is a display of native and introduced plants, from begonias to bushes. There is also a conservator, lake, and the original homestead. Walking trails, picnic area and barbeques are also open for visitor use. Open daily from 9:30am to dusk.

    Ohorere Gardens
Situated on the Whanganui Riverbank, the moist air surrounding Ohorere Gardens support the explosion of colours from an array of flora. The call of the native Tui bird can be heard in the gentle breezes. All this make the gardens a popular wedding venue.
