Every year from December to February the city of Wanganui comes into full bloom. Wanganui in Bloom is a festival of flowers that drapes the city in colour and fragrance. Visit Mainstreet for a display of over 800 hanging flower baskets, celebrated with an extravagant parade at the end of January. Other festivities include a market, a river raft race and gardens.
