Pukemarama, meaning 'hill moon', is a splendid example of a 19th century English Garden, complete with a Victorian homestead at its core. Overlooking the west coast, the garden is a mixture of sunken gardens, bricked terraces and a woodland dell complete with mature trees including an 80 foot high (24 metres) Macrocarpa. Groups and tours are preferred by booking in advance.

Owlcatraz is a mysterious world of the New Zealand Morepork (or Ruru) owl. Guides explain the life and legends of this fascinating creature while introducing visitors to resident birds Owl Capone, Owlvis Presley and more. Other attractions include Big Red, the world's largest cattle beast, endangered North Island Weka birds, caves, Mai and Eye-Deer, Tibetan Yak, Jerusalem Donkey, Oha Kune pig, the original Shannon Jail and more. There is also a picnic area and craft shop on site. Tours that include door-to-door pick up are also available. Open daily from 9am to 5pm.
