Pukemarama, meaning 'hill moon', is a splendid example of a 19th century English Garden, complete with a Victorian homestead at its core. Overlooking the west coast, the garden is a mixture of sunken gardens, bricked terraces and a woodland dell complete with mature trees including an 80 foot high (24 metres) Macrocarpa. Owlcatraz is a mysterious world of the New Zealand Morepork (or Ruru) owl. Guides explain the life and legends of this fascinating creature while introducing visitors to resident birds Owl Capone, Owlvis Presley and more.
